From Amjikarai to Amrika!!!
Time does fly. It only looks like yesterday that I took the flight to George Bush Intercontinental airport. Now that I look back, it's been 565 days since that warm July night in 2012 ( Yea I did use a calculator to find the number of days :P ). I am not the same person I was back then. Things have changed and I've changed for the better (hopefully). Here I am, on my first trip back home after 1.5 years. I've just graduated and can't wait to start working. Well, there 14 days left till I begin working but I can't wait already! Anyways, I am sitting on my bed with my half packed suitcase ready to go back, thinking about my adventures I've had in Texas thus far. College StationMY FIRST EVER VEHICLE :)No matter how much our parents, grandparents and family members buy for us, it is always a special feeling when you buy a vehicle with entirely your money. I had that moment a month after reaching College Station when I bought my bicycle. Proud of my investment, I drove the cycle around the entire campus as if it were the most expensive thing in the world. Well, atleast to me it was :)FIRST ROAD TRIPWell, being an Indian, it is difficult for me to not watch an Indian movie atleast once a week. Unfortunately, the nearest theatre to College Station was a 2 hour drive to Houston. I can remember clearly. Sri Devi's comeback film 'English Vinglish' had released and my friends and I so badly wanted to go watch the movie. There were approximately 15 of us and none of us knew how to drive on American roads. Hiring a cab would cost us a fortune. So, three brave souls (2 friends of mine and myself) decided to rent 3 cars and take the trip to Houston. You should have seen the excitement on our faces when we rented out 2 Dodge Avengers and a VW Passat. We felt like Schumacher, Vettel and Massa sitting behind Formula 1 cars :DThe trip to the theater was alright but it was the return trip back home that was hilarious. It's 2AM at night and all three cars are in 'nitrous' mode, showing 90mph on the odometer with no one else in the road except us. Then all of a sudden, a cop pulls us over from nowhere and put a $250 penalty for overspeeding. We were crying our hearts out at that time but now, looking back at it, I find it amusing! :D
