Summer Vacation: Day 1
I have had a wonderful summer so far and my internship with Valero is finally over after 13 long and intensive weeks. When I had to move out of San Antonio last night, I was kind of sad because the place felt like home even though I've been there for just three months. I met so many people, made so many friends, learnt so much and most interestingly, learnt how to dance Country for the time ever in my life. I won't say I didn't feel bad for the person who taught me how to dance. I cannot wait to get back to SA next year when I begin working full time with them. It's going to be an exciting year ahead even more so because this will be my final semester at Texas A&M. I'll not be a student anymore once I graduate this december (unless I decide to get PhD or an MBA degree)I was planning a trip to California for a long long time now and I've finally made it here. I'm pumped and excited because I'm seeing family and friends after ages. It's a 9 day trip and the funny part is, I don't have any plan of the places I am going to visit or what I am going to do over the entire trip. But all I know is, it's going to be a hell lot of fun. My first day of the trip started today at 2AM because I had to catch my flight from Austin to Houston at 5.15. I came to the airport all sleepy eyed and tired already. Somehow I managed getting on the flight and getting to San Jose a good 6 hours later. It was the first time in 16 years that I was coming to California. The last time I was here was when my dad was working here. The moment the captain of the airplane said that we were going to land at SJC, it brought back memories of the last time I was here. The only difference between now and then - I was here with my family back then but now, it's just me all by myself. The first leg of my trip, I'll be spending with my uncle and aunt who've been here for as long back as I can remember. The rest of my day was spent eating delicious indian food and catching up with the family. Not one variety or two..there were so many delicious items that my aunt had cooked for me that, 1 hour wasn't enough to eat and savor everything. haha. It brought back memories of India and my mom and felt so good! Made me smile from within after a long long time. I am pretty sure that, by the time I return to College Station a week from now, I'm going to be 20 pounds heavier and prolly be in a position where I need new clothes. If that wasn't enough, my aunt and uncle made traditional 'kothu parota' for me *slurp slurp* This is something I personally love and also something I haven't had in more than a year. Honestly, it did not feel as if I was in America (well not literally of course). No matter what, there is nothing as good as home :) We're all planning on going to San Francisco tomorrow to the Golden Gate bridge so that, like all Indians who come here, I can also take a picture next to the bridge and make it my next Facebook cover photo. Haha :P
