Whatta Weekend!!!
Now, where exactly do I start describing this past weekend? Hmmm…I am quite confused myself about how fast and interesting it turned out to be :D When I left office this Friday fuming and mumbling about how torturous the week had been to me, little did I realize that it was going to be more than compensated for, by the weekend that lay ahead of me ;)
The first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Saturday and Sunday is “Oh God!!!Please make my boss forget that I even exist...at least for these two days!!I promise I’ll finish the remaining reports when I get to office on Monday. I wanna sleep!!!!! LLL”
My case was no different ;) Thankfully, the only reprieve was that, even my boss was out of town during the weekend :D That meant I had the whole of the 2 days all to myself :P Come Saturday and I woke up only by 8.30 I guess J Only I know how much I was looking forward to this day without having any other worry on my mind ;)
The remaining of the morning passed off without any further ado…At around 11 AM a sudden plan came up and I had to make a trip to this beautiful hill station of Yelagiri. The trip lasted for nearly 5 hours( even though it is only 200 odd kilometers from Chennai, mostly thanks to my driver whom I feel, hasn’t crossed the 70 kmph mark at all in his entire life)
Thankfully, the trip wasn’t a killer because my colleague from office (his name’s Godwin by the way) gladly accompanied me on the trip. Funny old chap he is ;) Good entertainer I must tell you :P We were to meet my dad and his office colleagues atop the hills at this hotel called “Golden Nest”.
Just when I was thinking “How is it that we have been travelling on the correct route for so long without making any mistakes”, did I realize that we had strayed well off our course and in fact, crossed Yelagiri itself and landed ourselves into another small hill town called ‘Nilavur’. So there went another one hour in correcting ourselves. When we finally reached the hotel, it was almost 6PM which meant that we had delayed the entire trip by about 3 hours.
But I must say…Yelagiri is a wonderful place to visit, provided you have a stack load of cash and have nothing else to do other than eat and sleep :D ;) That night, we had arranged for a camp fire and barbeque in the hotel gardens. It was truly exquisite considering the fact that it was the first time I was seeing it ;):D Grilled panneer, capsicum, potatoes, chapattis and the best of all, hot chai…yumm!!! It was indeed a treat for the eyes and tummy too :D
One very important thing I realized while at the barbeque was that, we could make a “mock tail” of whatever food or drink is available...because in the dark, no one is ever going to know what we did (unless we go and explicitly tell them of course :P:P ) After a sumptuous meal and a gala day, we had to leave back home the very night itself. But thankfully the return trip was much better (came back home in 3 hours itself because it was Dad who did all the driving…the return speed was 120kmph on an average to be precise ;))
I have to go take care of some small issues right now(a.k.a my promise to God for giving me such a wonderful weekend ). So until next time,
With love,
Karthik J
