ROAD TRIP TO KANCHI :)

There is this old adage which says “When you really put your heart and soul into doing something, then the whole world will conspire together and see to it that you get what you wanted.” When I recall that saying right now, all that I can say is “How trueJ
For quite some time now, I had been dying to go visit the Kanchi Kamatchi Amman temple. But I never had the opportunity or the time to go there. And when I least expected it, this Saturday night, my uncle calls me from Bangalore asking me if I was free to accompany him on a trip to Kanchi this Sunday. I was so excited and happy that I didn’t know how to react. All night I was super excited about the trip. It was initially planned that we go there by car.
But I guess Kamatchi Amman had other plans for us. Right when we were going to leave to the temple in the morning, the car failed to start and we had to go to Kanchipuram by bus. The best comedy in this is that, the auto fare for going from home to the bus stop was a hundred odd bucks while the bus ticket to Kanchi for four of us was itself only 80 bucks :D
One word to describe the bus journey is “HORRIBLE”. The way the driver drove the bus, had we been traveling a little longer, our backs would have fallen apart and I’d have been in the hospital right now instead of writing this blog. Phew!! Thank god that wasn’t the case J
But the disastrous ride was more than compensated for by the wonderful darshan my uncle had arranged for us. As always, the temple was as crowded as ever and I had apprehensions of gaining God almighty’s audience by the end of the day. But unknowing to me, my uncle had made plans for us to go right into the sanctum sanctorum of the Amman. If this wasn’t enough, we were made sit there itself for the next 40 minutes. I couldn’t have asked for more J
I was so moved by what was happening that, for a split second I couldn’t believe that it was real. I was seated inside the garbagraha while all the rituals were performed for the almighty. Only after we came out of the temple did I realize that my tummy was on fire!! I ran into the nearest available restaurant and gobbled up an entire plate of Indian meals in no time (although I had to wait for another 30 minutes inside the hotel because it was full :-P )
The return trip home was way better thanks to the Chennai Corporation and its series of Deluxe A/C buses (FYI the bus to Kanchi starts from T.Nagar bus depot- Route Number 576). What a day it had been. Never did I expect that my Sunday would turn from a sleepy slumber day to a super duper travel packed day. God knows what is in store for me today ;) J
Love,
Karthik
